9th - 11th July, 2019
BELFRY HOTEL, NOTTINGHAM UK
Business Innovation in Additive Manufacturing | Striving for industrial success, within and beyond the box!
This pre-summit day took place on the day prior to the opening of Additive International 2018 and provided an ideal opportunity to meet the key people involved in Additive Manufacturing business innovation, understand their objectives and the work being undertaken.
With Innovate UK’s currently sizeable portfolio on AM CR&D projects (well over 40 currently in progress), we designed this industry focused, pre-conference day to focus on the progress being made by all these publicly funded projects. It covered developments within the box (the AM platform or machine) to innovate with new processes, new materials and larger physical scale, whilst also developing new or improved solutions for all those challenges that reside outside. Also beyond the box, including design for AM, pre and post processing, inspection and test, supply chain development and business model innovation.
The day included the opportunity for many of the innovation projects to do a 2-minute pitch, to outline their project and highlight how they are contributing to implementing the National Strategy, and/or what they need the Government’s future Research and Innovation agendas to focus on in order to accelerate UK business success in this fast moving and game changing technology area.
There was an update on the UK’s Additive Manufacturing Strategy which has identified the business opportunity of £3.5bn per year and 60,000 associated jobs. The day was designed to maximise the networking opportunities and ended with a tour of the University of Nottingham labs and a drinks & canapé reception.
Keep checking back here where the plans for the 2019 pre-summit event will be revealed, once finalised.
