Centre for Additive Manufacturing - University of Nottingham
The activity of the Centre for Additive Manufacturing (CfAM) spans across both the fundamental and applied research.
The research activity is focused on next generation multifunctional Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology. The research carried out within the Centre has shown that the move from single to multi-material Additive Manufacturing gives the potential to move beyond structural applications and create fully functional systems rather than passive individual components.
Through the embedding of 3D functional materials within complex structures manufactured from engineering polymers or metals, the possibilities of creating added functionality and user value are immense.
The aim of the fundamental and translational research carried out within this world-class Centre will help shape the future national and international AM research agenda. The focus of the Centre’s activity is to work closely with businesses to tackle major research challenges, ensuring that the UK remains at the forefront of AM and its application in industry. The successful commercial exploitation of the Centre’s research in order to meet industrial and national need for cutting edge, low carbon manufacturing technologies is a key priority.
